Prayer of Gratitude For God's Help Six Months Into The Pandemic

Six Months On
On March 16 we posted our first blog – not even a video blog that day – just a few pictures and a short prayer as we faced something new and sinister and unknown.
We began with the verse from the Bible:
Turn us again to yourself, O God. Make your face shine down upon us. Only then will we be saved.
Psalm 80:3
We reminded ourselves that:
Beyond family and community support, though, we need the support and comfort of our Loving God who created us, who knows us, who is watching all of this happen around us, and who cares deeply about us.
We offered the following prayer as a starting place in reaching out and receiving the kindness and care of God for us on that day:
Loving God, You told us over and over again to not be afraid and yet
as we hear so many facts about a virus that seems to spread and
overwhelm communities and countries, we find it difficult to not be
afraid. Help us to focus on You today and on what is true.
You have not lost control and this virus is not stronger than Your
power. Your comfort and love can reach the heart of every individual
whether in the community or in isolation and so we ask that both
ourselves and those who are alone today will be conscious of Your
loving presence and supported by Your peace that goes beyond our
understanding.
You promise that You will not give us more than we can handle, even
when it seems like it's more than we can handle. We trust Your
knowledge and admit our own limited understanding. You are with us
and You will give us everything we need today to face today.
We leave tomorrow with you and the unknown uncertain future.
Give us your encouragement and Your peace. Amen
We posted a couple of promises from God’s word to encourage us and steady us going forward.
I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken for he is right beside me.
Psalm 16:8
God is our protection and source of strength. He is always rady to help us in times of trouble.
Psalm 46:1
Here we are six months later with a very changed perspective about many things as we’ve come through six months with the virus around us in the community. Can we just pause today and give God thanks that He has brought us to today.
We are grateful God that You have proven the reliability of Your word for each day. Your promises are timeless and they are as helpful to us today as they were 6 months ago when, for most of us, all this started.
As you have stripped away life as we knew it, we pray now to open our eyes to see You and to welcome what You are doing and how You want us to be a part of that. We give ourselves and this day into Your care. Amen
