Hope For Today Videos

Sometimes we are bored and restless because the things we are interested in or engaged in were never meant to be satisfying and attention holding. They are a bit empty.  Our boredom is calling us to put our attention to things that are better.

There’s so much beauty and goodness to see if we just take the time and opportunity to see it. Isn’t that often the way we are in life as well?  We easily see the beautiful things that are before us or that we intentionally seek out.  On days when life is going well it’s not hard to find things to be grateful for and let our hearts embrace a smile. But then the tough days come and the challenges pile up around us and inside us. Then what do we see? 

God promises to teach us to distinguish between damaging fear and sober precaution.  Fear paralyses and drives us to dark and lonely places.  Precaution helps us to avoid foolish mistakes and maintain safe steps. God knows that in life we will face troubles. 

We want to think and pray about our thinking because we know that our words and actions are often the direct result of what we think and feel.  If we want to speak and act well, we first need to think and desire well.

So, if we were each to do a little inventory of our life right now and see ourselves as God sees us, I wonder what we would give thanks for and what would need fixing?  It’s worth a few moments of our time to reflect on that, don’t you think?

Today we have another opportunity to join our hearts in giving thanks and praise to God for the many ways He blesses us. Whatever we are doing today, let’s have a lovely day that includes reflecting on the goodness of God.

People lie so they look better than they are acting.  They lie  to try to gain advantage. They lie because they are angry with someone and want to get back at them.  They lie to themselves to minimize and excuse their poor attitudes or behaviour. The truth is, whenever any person tries to live without God they quickly descend into a habit of telling lies.

All of us go through times in our lives when we feel lonely and inadequate to deal with the events that life has brought our way. We see the world move along on its merry way without stopping to care about our emotional struggles. We know that unless we have an opportunity to share our problems with someone, no one can really understand us, and be in a position to be able to offer help that can effect positive change for us.

Whatever gives you a sense of “being ancient” let’s enjoy today some prayers based on these ancient but very much up to date words from Psalm 67.

Many of us have experienced the joy that comes when we surrender our will and our lives into God’s care and are restored to relationship with God. Our spirit comes alive as God’s Spirit lives in us.  God begins to pour His unfailing love into us.  We begin to believe that we do belong to God and are His cherished children who bring delight to His heart.

At times, we will not have an explanation for why things happen in our lives but we are assured that God is working all things together for good.

Living in peace with others around us?  Is it possible?  How can we maintain peace in our personal relationships and in our society at large?
