Hope For Today Videos

Here in the middle of winter I thought it would be good to consider  the topic of laughter and light heartedness. They are important to God because they are important to our well being. 

It's God’s heart that we have secure and peaceful dwelling places.  How do we know that?

Strong people with a true sense of their identity are often the gentlest souls in our community.  They don’t have to pretend to have courage in loud aggressive ways because they are confident in who they are and what they believe.

It’s Sunday, a day for worship and prayer.  A day to remember that God is with us and that we can face the future with confidence and joy because of the simple fact that God has promised to instruct us in the rig

Well, just a little more to say about goodness and good things coming our way when we wait.  It’s how we wait that makes such a difference.  Here’s a principle we can put into practice today that will move us in the right direction. Just for today I will adjust myself to what is and not try to adjust everything else to my desires. I will trust that God is working all things for good in my life.

Many of us have heard the saying, “Good things come to those who wait.”  This proverb reminds us that if we are patient and keep on doing what we know to do, we will eventually achieve our goal. 

God wants us to live a happy life, every day.  Over and over again we remind ourselves that this does not mean we will never experience difficulties and sorrows, but it does mean that somehow, in the middle of it all, we will know a comfort and a goodness that the companionship and help of our God gives us.  We will experience that as enough to carry us through well.

As we move through these winter months, one of the things that encourages me is the lengthening hours of sunlight.  I’m so glad to see light come a little earlier in the morning and still be there closer to suppertime.  I’m so glad that whether it is the long nights of the winter season or the long bright days of summer, we can walk with God in the light. 

How do we live mature and complete, lacking nothing?  Apparently by persevering in the grace of God in the middle of challenging circumstances.

Those credit card statements that include Christmas shopping are with us now.  Inflation in everyday things like grocery shopping, gasoline and even the rent clearly shows us that our money isn’t going as far as it used to. We all need a certain amount of money to get by from day to day and even to try to save a bit of money for an emergency and for retirement, if we can. Today we want to ask God’s perspective on the place of money in our lives.

Pride is a very destructive character defect. It is evident in our lives in many ifferent ways. So, what might even a “one minute” pride inventory show in our lives today?

We take time each day to pray and ask God for various things.  What confidence do we have that it makes a difference?
