 FINDING JOY IN THIS DAY

What gives you joy today? Whether this is a warm and sunny day we’re all seems right in the world or whether it’s dull and gray and things seem confusing and frustrating, this is the day that God has made for us and He has structured this day so we can find joy and gladness in it.

This is the day that the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 128:24

To be joyful is the direct result of how we focus our thoughts. We can be obsessed with problems, with all the things we don’t have that we think we need, with all the difficulties that we face, and we can allow all of that to drag our hearts into heaviness and our bodies into weariness. On the other hand, we can focus on the blessings we are assured by God that we have in this day, spend a little time noticing what they are and giving thanks for them, and in doing so experience a lift in our spirit that changes everything for the better.

Surely you have granted him eternal blessings and made him glad with the joy of your presence.  Psalm 21:6

Thank you God that when you are with us there is a joy to be had in every day and in every circumstance. We remind ourselves today that you created us for this day, you are accompanying us as we face all of it, you know exactly what we are experiencing, and you want to use all of it to bring about good in our lives. What more could we ask for?

In the Bible We are reminded: You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever. Psalm 16:11

So we give ourselves once again to you Heavenly Father, asking you to help us recognize the path you are showing us, to be aware of your presence with us, and to live joyfully in the faith that with you are pleasures forever more. Amen
