SUNDAY SHARED PRAYERS

Sunday January 9, 2022

Well, not every week but most Sundays we try to find the prayers that folks are praying in churches around the world and join them.

Let’s pray:

As we move along in this new year God, we need to experience Your hand in our lives.  We do not know what the year holds for us, but whatever that will be we trust You, and we place every day of this year in your care knowing that, as in the past, You are with us, caring for us with constant love.

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you. Psalm 32.8

Loving God, Thank you that you make all things new.  We pray for your Spirit to lead us each step of this New Year. We ask that you will guide our decisions and turn our hearts to deeply desire you above all else. We ask that you will open doors needing to be opened and close the ones needing to be shut tight. We ask that you would help us release our grip on the things to which you’ve said “no,” “not yet,” or “wait.” We ask for help to pursue you first, above every dream and desire you’ve put within our hearts.

Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5.6-7

Help us to keep our focus first on you this season. Please forgive us for giving too much time and attention to other things, for looking to other people before coming to you first. Thank you that you came to give new life, peace, hope, and joy. Thank you that your power is made perfect in our weakness.  Fill us with your joy and the peace of your Spirit. Direct our hearts and minds towards you.

The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry.  Psalm 34:15

Thank you for your daily powerful Presence in our lives, that we can be assured your heart is towards us, your eyes are over us, and your ears are open to our prayers. Thank you that you surround us with favor as with a shield, and we are safe in your care.  Amen
