RETURNING TO THANKS

Tuesday March 29, 2022

Although we try to come back to the theme of giving thanks often, we can never get to it often enough.  God never stops working on our  behalf and so our need to notice and appreciate and give thanks needs to be kept awake in us, don’t you think?

Let them praise the Lord for his great love and for the wonderful things he has done for them. For he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.  Psalm 107:8-9

Loving God, We thank You for Your goodness, Your blessings, and Your call to us today to be part of what You are doing in the world.   Thanks for your great love and care which we experience at every turn.  Thanks as well for all You do that we don’t even notice.  You are faithful in Your care for us whether we are faithful in our noticing or not.

Thank you for the great sacrifice of Jesus so that we might have freedom and life. Forgive us for when we don't bother to reflect on that or give You thanks for who you are, for all that you do, for all that you've given. Help us to set our eyes and our hearts on you afresh. Renew our spirits, fill us with your peace and joy. Amen

We ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love all of you have for one another is increasing.  2 Thessalonians 1:3

We thank You  God that we are not alone.  In our neighbourhoods and around the world are so many brothers and sisters in Christ.  We thank You for them and for their faith and endurance and the love that we’ve shared with those who are near to us.

We thank you for the “saints who have gone before us” – so many folks who endured much harder lives and circumstances than what we currently face and yet they stayed committed to You and experienced Your faithful love bringing them through.  The witness of their lives is so encouraging to us and we thank you for them.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  Philippians 4:6

Whether there’s much food in the fridge or little; whether our bank balance is black or red, we want to bring what we have to You today, with thanksgiving.  We offer ourselves to You, all we are and all we have, we offer who we are and what we have to You. We trust You to supply our need today as we live for You.  Thank you for the hope and for the provision we can depend on You to send our way.  Amen
