Shielded By Faith

God gives us a number of “tools in our toolbox” so we can navigate each day successfully.  One important tool is the shield of faith.

Hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Ephesians 6:16 

God is the one who has the know-how and the power to help us find what we need to be truly successful and satisfied in life.  The evil one, on the other hand, is filled with lies and accusations that he never gets tired of hurling at us.

God wants us to do well today and that’ll happen when we hold onto faith in His goodness and His love for us, not matter what’s gone on in our past. God is committed to our good and if we will come to Him, believe that he is there, and turn our will and our life over to His care, He will bring more good into our lives than we can possibly imagine today.  The big question is, will we have faith in God?

It is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him. Hebrews 11:6 

We need to come to God, trusting that He is there and there for us. Even if it takes an hour, a day, a week, or even a bit longer for certain things to get worked out, we can have the peace and security of knowing that with God’s help we will see His goodness expressed in our hearts and circumstances. 

The LORD your God is with you; his power gives you victory. The LORD will take delight in you, and in his love he will give you new life.  He will sing and be joyful over you. Zephaniah 3:17

We won’t see all the details right away.  We’ll see enough to take the next steps we need to take and do the next right thing.  But the whole meaning of faith is trusting God when we don’t see the long range because we know that He does and that He’s committed to our good.

Loving God, no matter what our thoughts say, what others say, or the evil one tries to tell us, we want to  hold up that shield of faith to the good God we know You to be and Your desire to do good to us.  We trust in Your promises and ask You to help us  to be confident that You will give us victory after victory as we walk hand in hand with you.  We will experience the life which we long for.

We simply want to affirm these truths in this moment with our words and then with our actions all day long.  We   accept all that You have for us and all that You have prepared for us going forward. We put our faith and trust in You today. Amen

The shield of faith – it’s really all about the character of God and His commitment to us.  I think God’s done quite a bit to prove Himself kind and strong on our behalf, don’t you?  Let’s rejoice in that truth today.
