Facing Today With Courage
We spoke yesterday about those who are loyal through good times and bad. The greatest example of course being God’s faithfulness to us as we fumble and stumble. For anyone to maintain loyalty to another during good times and bad takes real courage and that’s what we pray to have today.
Courage starts by being willing to admit where we are at no matter how much we’ve struggled or blown it. For example, it takes real courage to admit that our lives are unmanageable and that we are powerless to sort ourselves out without God.
Asking for help also takes courage as we turn our will and life over to the care of God again today in whatever circumstances we find ourselves.
Here's how God encourages us to have courage.
Be strong! Be fearless! Don’t be afraid and don’t be scared by your enemies, because the Lord your God is the one who marches with you. He won’t let you down, and he won’t abandon you.
Deuteronomy 31:6
Heavenly Father, When we know that when our will and our lives are secure in Your care, we no longer need to live in fear and run from our commitments. Thank You for accompanying us at every step today. Because we are never alone, we can cope with whatever comes in this day.
Help us to courageously look at what it means to take responsibility for where we find ourselves. In Your love and wisdom we can face feelings of weakness and insecurity no matter how many challenges are involved in sorting out our hearts and our circumstances.
We’re so glad that it’s not about feeling strong that is the foundation of our courage. It’s simply knowing that You, God, are with us. That knowledge steadies us so we can do the next right thing, even in our weakest moments.
Through you [God] we push down our foes; through your name we tread down those who rise up against us.
Psalm 44:5
You’ve promised that Your grace is sufficient for us and that Your power is made perfect in our weakness. We put our hand in Your’s, our will and our life into Your care. Fill us with confidence and courage as we do what’s right in this moment and then rely on You to sort out whatever follows. Amen
I bless us to have courage to own where we’re at today and to take one step with God in the right direction.
