AI and Living My Best Life

Monday August 17, 2026

A wise man once said: On the day of judgment, surely, we shall not be asked what we have read but what we have done; not how well we have spoken but how well we have lived. Thomas à Kempis

What good are we doing today? How well are we living in this moment?

I think Thomas à Kempis had figured out what God was telling us when God told us in the Bible:

Teach us to use wisely all the time we have.  Psalm 90:12

We seem to live in a time that values what we know more than what we do or how well we live around what we are doing.

All the talk of AI and the investment in it is leaving many us wondering how AI is going to change or shape our time going forward.  Is it going to help us with our work or actually replace us in our work.

What I do know is that as long as God is giving us life and breath, He has a purpose for our lives today and wants to show us a plan with relationships and activities that we will both find meaningful and that we can use to bring joy and support to others.

I take comfort and find focus today when I remember this:

Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand. Proverbs 19:21

Loving God, you created us so we could enjoy a loving relationship with You, with others, and do good things on this earth.  We pray today that we will take time to ask You and listen to what You have to say about our activities today and going forward.

There’s never a season of our life that is the same, in terms of those activities, but what is sure and steady is that You have a good purpose for us to accomplish and You will give us everything we need to bring that about.

We commit ourselves to You again today.  Fill us with Your Holy Spirit who guides us into what is true about You, about us, and about Your heart in it for all of us.  Amen

So, if we haven’t done so already, maybe it’s time to ask God what His plan for our day and take steps to work with God in that.  We’ll have the best day if we do that.
