Conscious Contact

Just for today I will try to live in conscious contact with God praying only for knowledge of His will and the power to carry it out. 

Our lives matter to God. The details of our day are important to him.  He wants to give us direction.  He wants to support us and protect us.  God enjoys spending time with us and He is pleased when we spend time with him.  God enjoys it when we “chat it up” with him. 

Until we realize how much God loves us and cares about the details of our lives, we won’t want to pray to him.  Until we sincerely believe that he has completely forgiven us, we will be ashamed to face him.

Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always. 1 Chronicles 16:11

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 1 John 5:14

What might it look like to have a chat with God today?

•  Well, we first need to find a place where we can be undisturbed and free from distractions.
• Then, tell God our thoughts and feelings. It’s important to share our day with God as we would with a friend
• If it’s at the end of the day, it’s good to review things with God.  What went wrong?  What went right?  We can ask for healing, for forgiveness and make amends as necessary.
• Above all, we need to listen carefully.  God has messages for us
• And then we simply ask God for knowledge of his will for us and the power to carry it out.

Loving God, No one understands and cares for us more than You.  Thank You for taking an interest in us and the details of our lives.  Only You have the wisdom to give us reliable direction as to how today will fit together with the past, the present, and the future You have for us. 

Help us to pause often today to remember that You are with us and to listen for Your will for us in this day.  Amen
