Strengthen My Mind

Monday July 6, 2026

Just for today I will strengthen my mind.  I will take a few minutes to read and meditate on God’s word, seeking God’s perspective for my life today.  I will take note of one helpful thing God is saying to me and seek to behave accordingly.

The Bible helps us out with this advice:

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:2

Our minds have long been patterned on the negative and the self-centered.  By taking a few moments with God and reading His Word, we give ourselves fresh eyes with which to see and understand life in us and around us.  God has plans for us to have a meaningful day and have a positive influence on every person and situation we encounter.

If we haven’t read much of the Bible it’s not a bad idea to first read some of the story of Jesus.  Jesus is God walking on the earth with skin and bones just like us, and His example is what we seek to follow.  I might suggest beginning with the Gospel of John.

We don’t need to read pages and pages every day from the Bible.  It’s better to read less and ask God to help us apply those bits in our situations.  God’s not as interested in what we know as in what we think and do.

Don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. James 1:22

Heavenly Father, We know a renewing and strengthening of our minds comes when we don’t just get to know Your will but actually put it into practice.  So today, we ask You to show us what You want us to know and do and for the strength to make an effort to do whatever that is. Amen

Just for today I will strengthen my mind.  I will take a few minutes to read and meditate on God’s word, seeking God’s perspective for my life today.  I will take note of one helpful thing God is saying to me and seek to behave accordingly.
