Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT)

For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.
Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT)

It's summer in Vancouver. It seems everywhere I travel I see road repairs and construction. So many roads get worked on during the summer that I wonder at times if I can find a way to get to where I'm going. For the next year one road I regularly travel will be closed as they build an overpass over a railway crossing. I've sat in long lineups in the past while the trains have gone by so I'll be happy when the overpass is completed. The construction plans for this project and the ability of workers to follow those plans will result in many people experiencing less frustration when they travel through this area in the future.
God's plans for us have similar benefit. God has wonderful plans for us. They are clearly written in the Bible so we can follow them. God promises, over and over again, that as we follow His plans, we will be blessed. For a time God’s plan may cause temporary inconvenience in certain situations but eventually will provide a better way for us if we follow through.
One of my favorite Bible quotes in that regard is found in the familiar Psalm 23.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me. Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Let’s check the master plan, follow the directions, and find the wonderful life today that God has prepared for us.
