Life with God in recovery means that we bring all of our situations before God, particularly when we feel like running away.  We stay with God until we understand what is going on rather than throwing everything away because we can’t figure out what’s happening.  We trust God’s good plan that we can’t initially see but have His assurance that He will give us a future with hope.  It is this trusting God’s goodness in the darkness that paves the way for the satisfying life in recovery we’ve always sought.

[My people] are blind.  So I will lead them along paths they had not known before. I will guide them on roads they are not familiar with.  I will turn the darkness into light as they travel.  I will make the rough places smooth. Those are the things I will do. I will not desert my people.  (Isaiah 42:16 NIRV)

When times are tough, what makes us different from others around us, is that we choose to believe there is a solution to any problem simply because God is with us.  We do the things we know to be right and good in a given situation, as we wait in God's care and protection, until the problem is resolved.  We refuse to give in to hopelessness and the thought that says, “Nothing works and nothing will ever change.”  We keep looking to God who makes an amazing promise to perfectly fulfill His good purposes in everything that concerns us.

Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will revive me; You will stretch out Your hand against the wrath of my enemies, And Your right hand will save me.  The Lord will perfect that which concerns me.  (Psalm 138:7-8 NKJV)
