Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh the joys of those who take refuge in him! Psalm 34:8 NLT

It’s summertime and food is an important part of our activities.  There are gatherings and barbeques.  The stores are filled with fresh fruit and vegetables.  The internet has hundreds of recipes for salads and picnic foods as well as marinades and sauces for meat we cook on the barbeque.  Recently I found a recipe for salsa to eat with tortilla chips.  It only has 4 ingredients but it is so fresh that I find myself going back to eat it more than once in the week.

God’s wants us to eat well spiritually too.  He wants us to have food we enjoy and food that will sustain us.  “Is anyone thirsty? Come and drink—even if you have no money! Come, take your choice of wine or milk—it’s all free! Why spend your money on food that does not give you strength? Why pay for food that does you no good? Listen to me, and you will eat what is good. You will enjoy the finest food.   Isaiah 55:1-2 NLT

Jesus taught his friends and followers:  “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.  John 6:35  NLT   Jesus wants you and I to know today that He has life for us that is full and satisfying.  If we will come to Jesus and receive the life that He is offering us, we will never be spiritually hungry or thirsty again.

We will have hope and security that is deep and lasting.  We will experience peace and joy that is not explainable based on our circumstances.  We will have strength and patience to face whatever comes across our path.  At the deepest places of our being, we will know rest because we will have received the life that God creat ed us to experience when He placed a longing for eternity in us.  He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts  (Ecclesiastes 3:11  NKJV)
