Tissues And Tears (1)

Thursday October 24, 2013

My Mother is visiting me.  Some of you reading this have met her.  Before she came I made sure that I had lots of tissue in the house.  I put one box in her bedroom, one in the bathroom, one by the kitchen table, one in the living room near the chair where she sits, and I have a box in the car.

Mother has tissue in her pocket, in her purse, and often even sticks a tissue in the band of her watch.  She wants to be sure she has a tissue wherever she goes.  I find tissue in the bed, behind the chair, on her nightstand, in pockets when I’m doing the wash.  Tissue, tissue, everywhere!!

My mother had many hard times in her life.  She raised 12 kids.  There were addiction issues in our home she had to deal with.  My father died in a car accident while Mom still had 5 children to raise at home and very little money.  She knew hard times.

But, Mother also knew that God was with her and she could give her troubles to God, even when she was crying, and using tissues, because God cared for her and would help her.

Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning.  (Psalm 30:5 NLT)

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.  (I Peter 5:7 NIV)

As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him; for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust. Psalm 103:13-14 (NIV)

God knows your hard times.  God will help you even if no one else sees your tears.  God understands.  God loves you.  God wants to help you, if you’ll ask Him.  When you use a tissue, even in secret remember this.
