Extreme Makeover (1)

For a number of years on Sunday evenings ABC TV aired a show called “EXTREME HOME MAKEOVER”. Each episode featured a family, chosen because they had faced some difficulty and overcome it. Sometimes their child was sick or handicapped in a significant way. Sometimes the family had seen others suffering in the community and had made great efforts to help.
In every case, the family home they were living in was broken and not suited for their daily needs. And so a group of professional designers and builders came to their home, sent the family away on vacation and tore down the old house. In just one week a beautiful new home was built that had the best of everything and was exactly suited to the family’s personal needs. The God in heaven, who created the world including human beings who He made in His image, notices us. God is aware that circumstances in our lives are often difficult. Sometimes, due to these circumstances, we falter and do things that cause pain and suffering for ourselves and others. God does not stand inactively by. God cares. God acts on our behalf.

Two thousand years ago God sent His Son Jesus into our world to provide the solution to the problem of sin and suffering. Jesus offers us a brand new life today. Will we receive it?
