Three Wishes (2)

Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.  (Mark 11:24 NIV)

When teaching His disciples on prayer Jesus taught:

“This, then, is how you should pray: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” (Matthew 6:9-10 NIV)

These words from Matthew are the beginning of what is commonly called the “Lord’s Prayer”.  We pray these words often.  What is the desire of your heart when you pray these words?  When we are praying God is looking at the desires of our hearts.  Are these three things the desire of your heart?

1)            The glory of God’s name
2)            The coming of God’s kingdom
3)            That God’s will be done on earth as it is in heaven

Do you really desire these three things when you pray? The glory of God’s name evident in your life, the coming of God’s kingdom which is not just in word but in power, and the will of God, as written in the scriptures, is done on earth as it is in heaven.  If these truly are the desire of your heart God has said in His word that you will receive them.  How would your life change if God granted you these deepest desires of your heart?

The Bible tells us in 1 Samuel 16:7 (NIV), The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.

God is not a genie that he responds to your decisions.  He responds to the deepest desires of your heart.
Think about it again, what are the deepest desires of your heart?
