Unfailing Love

They scavenge for food but go to sleep unsatisfied. But as for me, I will sing about your power. Each morning I will sing with joy about your unfailing love. For you have been my refuge, a place of safety when I am in distress. O my Strength, to you I sing praises, for you, O God, are my refuge, the God who shows me unfailing love. (Psalm 59:15-17 NLT)
What is the last thing you do when you go to bed at night? Do you dwell on the troubles of the day or do you focus on the strength that God has given you to get through the day? Do you count the missing sheep or do you count your blessings? Before the Psalmist David became king of Israel he led a rag tag army of men who at times had to scavenge for food and shelter. David says they went to sleep unsatisfied. He, however, did not. David suffered the same dilemma as his men and yet his attitude was different. Why do you think that might be? David states that each morning he sings with joy about God’s unfailing love. What if you were to accept God’s unfailing love for you and sing with joy about it each morning? How do you think your day might change?
It is good to praise the Lord and make music to your name, O Most High, proclaiming your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night, to the music of the ten-stringed lyre and the melody of the harp. (Psalm 92:1-3 NIV)
If we let the love of God be music to our hearts each morning and praise Him for His unfailing love each night we will become happy people, ready to sing and dance with joy all day long. Rejoice like David did and praise God that you’ve made it through another day and risen above your circumstances whatever they may have been. God is good and He is working all things together for your good and His glory. Think about God’s desire to bless you in every experience of the day. His word says that He will never leave or forsake you. Let this sink deep in your soul and be glad that with God all things are possible. Be sure of this, the Lord knows each of His children and like a shepherd looks after his sheep. The Lord is your shepherd watching over you.
See, the Sovereign Lord comes with power, and he rules with a mighty arm. See, his reward is with him, and his recompense accompanies him. He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young. (Isaiah 40:10-11 NIV)
Today, rejoice in the unfailing love that God has for you. Before you close your eyes to sleep this evening think on how the great Shepherd has gathered you in His arms and carried you close to His heart. He truly is an awesome, caring God!
