Thanksgiving Remembering God’s Goodness

Thursday October 16, 2014

There are many battles in our lives that are much bigger than we are.  Often our first response is to worry, work, lie, cheat or scam our way through the challenging circumstances.

Yesterday we recalled a king and his people who praised God and remembered God’s goodness when they faced a battle bigger than they could possibly deal with.

The only way through our battles, is to do what this king and his people did, remember God’s goodness, thank God, consult God about the problem before us, listen for God’s voice, trust God, and then do those things that God tells us to do.

We must learn to put God first, even if we have to force our minds and hearts to do so.  The only way to overcome worry and fear, along with our troubles, is to see our great God as He is -- much bigger than our most troublesome problems.

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.  (Isaiah 55:8-9 NIV)

God knows the way through our problems and is making that way available to us today.  Today, will we continue to manage things in our own frustrated and faulty way, or will we look to God, remember His goodness, and trust Him to work out all our problems for our good and His glory?
