A Story To Tell

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38-39 NIV)
Each of us has a valuable story to tell. We may be shy and feel awkward about speaking about ourselves especially if we have come out of a life of addiction. We may wonder if what we have to share is appropriate. We may struggle to get beyond the shame of our past and want to keep it hidden deep within our memory bank or, we may just want to tell the bits and pieces and put things in a more positive light than we experienced. Regardless of what our story is it is “our story”.
Is our story actually going to help someone else? If our life has meandered on the path of self-absorption for a number of years we may be hesitant to tell anyone our story, especially if we lack confidence about maintaining our new way of life. However, our story may possibly help others who are trapped in the pit of self-pity or addiction from which we have just come. As we apply spiritual principles to our lives we will experience, strength and hope to share. We can offer the same comfort we have received to those who are currently in similar circumstances. We now know the living God as our Higher Power and from Him each day we receive the strength and comfort we need to live life according to His plan and purpose for us. 
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. (2 Corinthians 1:3-4 NIV)
Today, think of the comfort you have received from God and others, and then, be willing to comfort others as you have been comforted.
