Promises, Promises (2)

Wednesday April 15, 2015

Because we’ve been disappointed and disillusioned by the empty promises of many around us throughout our life we are sometimes bitter, and afraid to put our hope in the promises God makes. We wonder if we are good enough or if God will even notice or care about us.  We question if there’s some kind of “hook” or requirement to having God come through for us.

As followers of Jesus Christ we can be secure and at peace in God’s precious promises in every circumstance.  Here are some of God’s lovely promises that are foundational to our living well today.

·         God has said, "I will never fail you. I will never abandon you."  (Hebrews 13:5 NLT)
·         Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.  (Matthew 6:33 NLT)
·         Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. (1 Peter 5:7 NLT)
·         God says, "My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness." (2 Corinthians 12:9 NLT)
·         But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. (1 John 1:9 NLT)
·         And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.  (Philippians 4:19 NLT)
·         Then Jesus said, "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.  (Matthew 11:28 NLT)

God’s promises are full of hope and provision.  Our hearts will truly be satisfied as we bring our actions into line with God’s word.

What promise of God do I need to incorporate into my life today?  How do I exchange my own way of provision for God’s provision?  How do I need to grow in trusting God’s desire to fulfill all goodness in my life?
