Summer Food
Monday June 29, 2015

It's summer time. In parts of the country it's warm and dry and in other places it's cool and rainy. However, the days are longer and the bright evenings encourage many of us to enjoy outdoor activities. Part of our enjoyment of being outside is eating barbequed food with salads and other wonderful "picnic" fare. The God who created us to enjoy outdoor activities and picnics uses food to remind us of the satisfaction and joy we can have each day as we invite Him to be with us. For example:

The laws of the Lord are true; each one is fair. They are more desirable than gold, even the finest gold. They are sweeter than honey, even honey dripping from the comb. Psalm 19:9-10 NLT

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Galatians 5:22-23 NLT
Warm days in the sunshine make us thirsty. We are reminded over and over again to rehydrate in order to stay healthy. It's important that we also keep ourselves well watered with the good things God is giving us to drink this summer.

Jesus said: But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.” John 4:14 NLT
“Is anyone thirsty? Come and drink—even if you have no money! Come, take your choice of wine or milk—it’s all free! Why spend your money on food that does not give you strength? Why pay for food that does you no good? Listen to me, and you will eat what is good. You will enjoy the finest food. Isaiah 55:1-2 NLT
Let's seek and enjoy what God is making available to us today. We will find our lives filled with joy and satisfaction as we enjoy the finest food.
