Courage To Change (4)

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. (Psalm 46:1 NIV)
From the time we are born until the day we die we live in an ever-changing world. Our bodies are constantly changing. Our teeth grow in and fall out. Our hair does the same. We grow and increase in inches and pounds and then work hard to get rid of some of those pounds. We are constantly learning as we gain new information and encounter new situations. World events change the society in which we live and personal circumstances have the power to shape us for good or evil.
How different is our world since the events of 9/11? Where would we be without our computer tablets and smart phones which arrived about seven years ago? We often get new jobs, move to different neighbourhoods and form new circles of friends. It takes courage to face these changes and find ways to live well in our new circumstances.

Often changes come in the form of events which fill us with fear or disappointment. In these times of anxiety, if we ask God, He will strengthen us and be with us. In His unfailing love He will lead us. Long ago when people just like us were in trouble, here’s how the Bible says God responded to their situation: When they suffered, he suffered with them. He sent his angel to save them. He set them free because he is loving and kind. He lifted them up and carried them. He did it again and again in days long ago. (Isaiah 63:9 NIRV)
God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. His promises never fail and He is faithful to perform what He says He will do. When life around us is unsettled God will show us a safe way through our difficulties. He will strengthen us and change our lives for the better as we choose to follow His principles. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. For that is what God is like. He is our God forever and ever, and he will guide us until we die. (2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV, Psalm 48:14 NLT)

Change will come for each of us today, tomorrow and every day after that. No matter what change we face, we can say boldly: When I was in great trouble, I cried out to the Lord. He answered me and set me free from my trouble. The Lord is with me. I will not be afraid. What can mere human beings do to me? The Lord is with me. He helps me. I win the battle over my enemies. (Psalm 118:5-7 NIRV)
