Healthy Risk (5)

By your words I can see where I’m going; they throw a beam of light on my dark path. I’ve committed myself and I’ll never turn back from living by your righteous order. Everything’s falling apart on me, God; put me together again with your Word. I concentrate on doing exactly what you say—I always have and always will. (Psalm 119:105-107, 112 MSG)
God wants to bless us and make us a blessing to others. God wants us to grow and thrive and mature. God has good things for us to do which will bless others and bring satisfaction to us. Many of us are afraid to risk taking steps to get the schooling or training we need to prepare for that work. We are afraid of failing. Some of us have training but are afraid to risk getting a job interview. Others of us have made the decision to believe the lie that there is nothing useful for us to do and so we choose to just survive, passively relying on government support. It is a great risk, but one well worth taking, to trust God and move forward into the good plans He has for us. God promises to give us all we need as we move forward in His will, one step at a time.

And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others. (2 Corinthians 9:8 NLT)
Sometimes the risk for us is to simply get involved with life around us. We see someone in need and our heart is touched to help them but then we wonder what will happen if we choose to get involved. We sense that it would be good to speak a word of encouragement or even a challenging word to someone but we are afraid to risk their reaction.

If we are willing to submit to Him, God has a plan for our life. He will help us work through this plan until it is completed and successful. God has promised that when He calls us to do something, He will generously provide all that we need. We may feel weak but God’s grace will strengthen and support us when we feel most vulnerable. God says: “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 9:12 NIV)
In which area of my life do I need to take a healthy risk and step out and follow God’s guidance and direction?
