Living With Integrity (2)
Wednesday March 2, 2016

When our life in recovery is shared with God, we will consciously have a friend who sticks closer than a brother. Therefore, we don’t need to worry about the daily happenings of our day because even in adverse situations God is always with us.
He leads the humble in doing right, teaching them his way. The Lord leads with unfailing love and faithfulness all who keep his covenant and obey his demands. (Psalm 25:8-10 NLT)
The story of Daniel in the Bible tells us of a humble man of integrity who sought to live according to God’s principles in all circumstances, in spite of much injustice. In his teens, through no fault of his own, Daniel was made a Jewish captive and taken to a foreign land. He experienced all types of harsh and unfair treatment that could have resulted in bitter resentment and a desire for revenge. However, as a man of God, he continued to serve the King of Babylon to the best of his ability and prospered in those things which were entrusted to him. His counterparts in the government became jealous of Daniel and sought to find fault with the work he performed. Try as they might, his enemies could find no deficiencies with which to charge him.
…They couldn’t find anything to criticize or condemn. He was faithful, always responsible, and completely trustworthy. So they concluded, “Our only chance of finding grounds for accusing Daniel will be in connection with the rules of his religion”. (Daniel 6:4-5 NLT)
In captivity, in a foreign land, Daniel continued to serve God and his employer with integrity. In spite of the fact he was only a teenage boy when taken captive by the enemy, Daniel determined that he would follow the ways of God. Daniel set his heart to wholeheartedly serve God regardless of his circumstances. He never lost faith that God was with him and in control of all the events that happened, even in a strange land. God, in His wonderful grace, continued to guide and prosper Daniel in all his ways.
It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.” (Luke 4:8 NIV)
Today, let’s reflect on our determination to wholeheartedly serve God regardless of our circumstances and trust God to guide and prosper us as He did for Daniel.
