Sunday Psalm Life Worth Living
Sunday May 29, 2016

Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path. I’ve promised it once, and I’ll promise it again: I will obey your righteous regulations. I have suffered much, O Lord; restore my life again as you promised. Lord, accept my offering of praise, and teach me your regulations. My life constantly hangs in the balance, but I will not stop obeying your instructions. The wicked have set their traps for me, but I will not turn from your commandments. Your laws are my treasure; they are my heart’s delight. I am determined to keep your decrees to the very end. (Psalm 119:105-112 NLT)

Today’s reading gives us encouraging words of hope as we seek life with God in recovery.
We have suffered much. On many occasions life seemed to be hanging in the balance. Even now as we determine to walk a new path we hear the menacing voice of the enemy within and around us tempting us back to our old way of thinking and operating. However, we have God’s promise that He will help us stand firm in Christ. Thankfully, God’s promises are unlike our promises. His promises are trustworthy and reliable.
Our part is to keep our focus on the Lord, letting His word bring light to our path, as we walk steadily forward one step at a time. When we walk with the Lord and follow His instructions we will find over and over again that His way is perfect. The goodness we were previously seeking, but never able to find, will follow us and we will experience joy overflowing in our hearts. We may not be able to see too far ahead of us but we certainly have light for our next step and the presence of a loving God accompanying us. We don’t need to understand it all today. God will teach us as we go. This is a life worth living and we have a God worthy of all our praise.

Today, let’s commit ourselves to persevere in following God’s righteous regulations – to the very end. This is the pathway to peace. This is the way to a life of pleasures forevermore.
You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever. (Psalm 16:11 NLT)
