Faithfulness A Faithful Witness

When we read the Bible we learn from faithful witnesses how God has worked to save His people from the sin that so easily overwhelms them. From the first to the last page, the writers of the Bible have faithfully penned the history of God bringing together into one family all those who have believed in Him. As we share our experience, strength, and hope of God’s love for us, we add our witness to the continuous list of witnesses, who have testified to the life changing word of God.
See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! (1 John 3:1 NIV)
After His resurrection Jesus gave this instruction to His friends. “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. (Mark 16:15-16 NIV) Jesus’ friends became faithful witnesses of the Good News of the redemptive work of Jesus wherever they went. Even Peter, who once denied Jesus, and Paul who once sought to kill Christians, became faithful witnesses. Their stories of transformation can inspire and instruct us. They are not of perfect people with perfect lives, but are stories of God’s power to bring transformation to the lives of those with troubled pasts. When we are faithful to share what life was like before God met and changed us, God can bring hope and healing to more people around us than we could ask for or even imagine.
For we did not follow cleverly devised stories when we told you about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in power, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. He received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, saying, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” (2 Peter 1:16-17 NIV)
Are we willing to be faithful witnesses of how God has changed our lives so that others may also believe? God, through the power of His Holy Spirit, promises that if we open our mouths, He will fill them.
