Step 2 in the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous invites us to “come to believe that a power greater than ourselves can restore us to sanity.”
For the past few days we’ve been looking at themes of creation and whether or not they suggest the presence of an intelligent creator – a. code of morals and values or life on our own terms; b. random positioning of sun and stars and earth or planned system; c. laws of gravity and relativity – real and operational long before they were discovered; d. the systematic and amazing properties of water – spontaneous and unplanned or logically prepared and sustained?

Occam's Razor says: "Often the simplest explanation is the right one." Albert Camus has observed: "The death of God means the loss of purpose, joy, and everything that makes life worth living." Albert Einstein is quoted as saying this about two gifts given by God: "there is a real external world that is orderly and knowable, and the trustworthiness of our minds to grasp that world – science cannot proceed apart from these assumptions"

The Bible gives a simple summary of what these famous scientists and philosophers are telling us:
For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God. (Romans 1:20 NLT)

When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers—the moon and the stars you set in place—what are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them? You made the heavens and earth by your strong hand and powerful arm. Nothing is too hard for you (Psalm 8:3-4 NLT, Jeremiah 32:17 NLT)
