Loved By God Always

“I am loved by God always; I am loved without condition.” These are some of the words that are said at recovery meetings to encourage the group to acknowledge that God’s love is unfailing and unconditional. In spite of our rebellion against God and society, God has never stopped loving us.
The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness. (Jeremiah 31:3 NIV)
Why are we reluctant to accept and rely on the love of God for us? We often feel like we are compelled to do life on our own because no one cares. Perhaps these feelings were familiar when we were in our addictions and dependencies. When we accepted Jesus as Lord and Saviour we were adopted into the family of God and became God’s precious children. If God truly is our Father, why then do we act like illegitimate children or orphans?
Jesus said: Don’t bargain with God. Be direct. Ask for what you need. This is not a cat-and-mouse, hide-and-seek game we’re in. If your little boy asks for a serving of fish, do you scare him with a live snake on his plate? If your little girl asks for an egg, do you trick her with a spider? As bad as you are, you wouldn’t think of such a thing—you’re at least decent to your own children. And don’t you think the Father who conceived you in love will give the Holy Spirit when you ask him? (Luke 11:11-14 MSG)
Coming to experience God as our loving Heavenly Father by continuing to turn our will and our life over to His care is the wisest thing we could ever do. When we honestly acknowledge that this powerful and loving God is for us, why would we worry about anyone being against us? See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! (1 John 3:1 NIV)
Heavenly Father, thank you for loving and caring for me. Help me to receive all that You have for me.
