Goodness Of God

People often talk about the goodness of God and how He desires to abundantly bless His people. On a daily basis, how many of us evaluate how God is providing goodness in our lives and thank Him for His provision? On the contrary, how many of us look around and decide what is missing in our lives and blame God for our perceived lack?
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. (Psalm 23:5-6 NIV)
There are many things we can be grateful for if we choose to look for them. If we can see out of our eyes, do we thank God for that? If our ears can hear, do we thank God for that? If we can walk without aids to do so, do we thank God that we can move freely from place to place? Some people are less fortunate and cannot see or hear or walk independently, so what can they thank God for? Maybe they can thank God for the fact they have been taught how to communicate with others or have a wheelchair or have a friend who is willing to push them around. If we are living and breathing we have something to thank God for.
Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow. (James 1:17 NLT)
God is the creator of all things and His character is shown in His goodness and love towards us. He made you and me and cares for us. He has given us the ability to know Him. When we look to God for life, what a comfort it is to know that He is our Everlasting Father and is faithful to keep all His promises. Why not thank God today for His goodness in giving us life in recovery?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, my life is filled with good things. Help me to give thanks for Your good gifts, both within me and around me. Amen
