Light That Overcomes Darkness

As part of energy conservation, we are being introduced to new light bulbs for our homes. Some of us don't like them very much. They save energy but they don't give the brightness that makes reading and other activities easy. These bulbs have a dullness that makes us want to "turn up the light" only to find that the light is shining to its fullest.
All of us should be grateful that in God's kingdom we have a light that burns brightly and completely overcomes the darkness. That light is Jesus Christ. Jesus came to our dark world to bring light to our lives so we could be focused and filled with hope.
God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it. (John 1:3-5 NLT)
In our addictive lifestyle, we saw many dark deeds going on around us. Also, we know from reading the newspapers or watching the daily news that there are disturbing and widespread dark deeds going on all around the world. The good news is that if we have given our will and our life over to the care of God, the light of Christ is in us and the darkness will never be able to overcome us. For whatever reason, we may sometimes experience dullness, or even darkness, in our own thinking or emotions. However, if we seek God’s help in our circumstances, the darkness will flee. Nothing, absolutely nothing can extinguish the light of Christ within us.
Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.” (John 8:12 NLT)
As children of God, we don’t have to fear darkness because Jesus is the light of the world and His light leads to everlasting life.
Prayer: Loving God, Thank You for bringing me out of darkness into the light of Your presence. I am forever grateful that darkness cannot overcome me for Jesus, the light of the world, is ever with me. Amen.
