More Desirable Than Gold

Some of us in recovery have transitioned from knowing little or nothing about the amazing God who pursued us with His love, to completely giving our will and our life over to His care. We know that living a self-directed life brought us to a place of darkness where life was totally unmanageable. Now, through His word, we are beginning to know this loving God and His perfect ways to light and life.
The instructions of the Lord are perfect, reviving the soul. The decrees of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The commandments of the Lord are right, bringing joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are clear, giving insight for living. Reverence for the Lord is pure, lasting forever. The laws of the Lord are true; each one is fair. They are more desirable than gold, even the finest gold. They are sweeter than honey, even honey dripping from the comb. They are a warning to your servant, a great reward for those who obey them. (Psalm 19:7-11 NLT)
As we choose to make conscious contact with God and follow His ways, we experience peace in our hearts which brings light to our eyes. The Holy Spirit guides us and our conscience becomes a trustworthy judge. As we follow God’s instructions we make more and more right choices, begin to feel better and better inside, and find freedom to become more and more transparent to the world around us.
They demonstrate that God’s law is written in their hearts, for their own conscience and thoughts either accuse them or tell them they are doing right. (Romans 2:15 NLT)
The Lord’s ways are perfect. When we follow His principles for living we can leave all the consequences with Him. Great reward is promised to those who wholeheartedly trust and obey the Lord. As joy and contentment fills our souls, life will seem sweeter than honey dripping from the comb.
Prayer: Gracious God, I am convinced that all Your ways lead to light and life. Help me to follow and treasure Your ways as I would treasure the finest gold. Amen
