Elsie's Note

Partners in Hope - who are we?  We are hopeful people coming out of difficult backgrounds who are finding our way to new life with God.  We were accompanied and helped in our journey so now we want to do the same for others.  Through prison outreach, the food co-op, affordable housing listings, 12-step meetings, supportive residences we seek to offer practical support.  Look around and see what we do.  Borrow any ideas and programs you see here for your community.  Contact us if you need help doing in your area something you see us doing here.

  • MEDITATION -- THURSDAY, MARCH 11, 2010 - BAD, BITTER, BUSY
We face difficulties and challenges in our day to day lives.  We face them with faith in God's goodness or we figure out our own ways of dealing with pain.  Outside of God's grace, goodness, and gentleness, we can only respond to trouble in a way that is bad, bitter, or busy.  Just because busy...

Partners In Hope
"Offering hope, support and healing, helping people out of harmful circumstances, and walking them through the process of building productive lives."

MARCH 2010

The Olympics have come and gone and now we have some "chilly weather."  The beautiful blossoms on the trees seem a bit vulnerable to the current cold air.  Somehow that's a picture of our city, I think .... great beauty that is vulnerable.  There was much talk about potentially "hiding the homeless" during the Olympics and groups of protestors worked hard to keep that agenda in the public eye.  Truth is, we all need a new eye for beauty and vulnerability and that's one of the many gifts to be shared between those that seem to be the "have's" and the "have nots".  We all have gifts and we all have wounds and we do well to support and learn from each other.

At Partners in Hope we try to facilitate that sharing.  We've tried to fill this website with information that provides for practical needs of those feeling vulnerable and offer ways for all of us to learn and share together.  If you or someone you love is in need, click on any of the coloured links below to check out our resources or contact our office for further information.    Find out how to be a part of this work here or bring similar efforts to your community by clicking on Ways to Help.

We've loaded this website with lots of  helpful information for you as you take steps towards making important changes in your life. Browse around the site and anywhere you see a  coloured link that interests you, click on it and you're likely to find some helpful information or an encouraging story. Read the most up to date news on the blog (see PiH Community News blog on the lower right of this page).   Elsie Quick explains more about Partners in Hope in the following video:

This Weeks Worksheet - Thursday Meeting

We all need to be under authority.  We all need to have some place or person to whom we are accountable for how we live our days, and checks and balances around which to structure our lives together with other member of the community and the world at large.  God wants us to live well and enjoy our life to the fullest so he has placed around us the protection of rules and authority.

We discuss how to live in a healthy way under authority in our meeting on Thursday evening, March 11, 2010 at 7:30 at Mission Possible, 543 Powell Street, Vancouver, BC
