  • THURSDAY, JANUARY 26, 2012 -- SOFT ADDICTIONS (3)
Here are some further clues to help us recognize soft addictions.

Compulsiveness.  Do you feel compelled to do something, have something, or buy something, even though you know you don't need it? This may be accompanied by a helpless, powerless feeling. You may be unable to stop or reduce the amount of time...

Elsie's Note

Partners in Hope - who are we? We are hopeful people coming out of difficult backgrounds who are finding our way to new life with God. We were accompanied and helped in our journey so now we want to do the same for others.

Look around and see what we do. Borrow any ideas and programs you see here for your community. Contact us if you need help doing in your area something you see us doing here.

Partners In Hope
"Offering hope, support and healing, helping people out of harmful circumstances, and walking them through the process of building productive lives."

JANUARY 2012

Offering hope support and healing through Jesus Christ as we reclaim the gift of our lives from addictions and destructive lifestyles.

The new year is with us.  With the holiday season past many suffer and struggle. The air is colder.  Rain bites more when it comes down and who knows when snow will fly.  It's a tough time to be outside or anywhere, struggling with addictions and poverty in many ways.  Here at Partners in Hope we try to be friends who stick together when the journey is tough.

We've tried to fill this website with information that provides for practical needs of those feeling vulnerable and offer ways for all of us to learn and share together.  If you or someone you love is in need, click on any of the coloured links below to check out our resources or contact our office for further information.

We've loaded this website with lots of  helpful information for you as you take steps towards making important changes in your life. Browse around the site and anywhere you see a  coloured link that interests you, click on it and you're likely to find some helpful information or an encouraging story. Read the most up to date news on the blog (see PiH Community News blog on the lower right of this page).   Elsie Quick explains more about Partners in Hope in the following video:

Discussion Details - Squamish:  Soft addictions can be habits, behaviors, moods or thought patterns. Many soft addictions involve necessary behaviors like eating, reading, and sleeping. They become soft addictions when we overdo them and when they are used for more than their intended purpose. We use them to satisfy a surface want but because they are not God's way they actually block how He wants to satisfy a deeper need.   View or Download "Soft Addictions"

It comes around only once a year but when it does, we are furious little beavers.  There's singing  and chatter, jokes and bantering.  In between all that we do a little work and wrap thousands of items for the Christmas bags that are delivered to shelters, treatment centers, prison, and...
