Elsie's Note

Partners in Hope - who are we?  We are hopeful people coming out of difficult backgrounds who are finding our way to new life with God.  We were accompanied and helped in our journey so now we want to do the same for others.  Through prison outreach, the food co-op, affordable housing listings, 12-step meetings, supportive residences we seek to offer practical support.  Look around and see what we do.  Borrow any ideas and programs you see here for your community.  Contact us if you need help doing in your area something you see us doing here.

Partners In Hope
"Offering hope, support and healing, helping people out of harmful circumstances, and walking them through the process of building productive lives."

FEBRUARY 2010

We are based in Vancouver, BC and the Olympics are coming.  Road closures, parking restrictions, banners wrapped around Olympic venues, the 5 O rings lit here and there.  These are some of the everyday signs that it's 2010 and our turn to host the world has come. For months voices have called for more attention to the poor during this time so they are not forgotten. At Partners in Hope we know that people who suffer are close to us every day.  We also know that help is often close but those who suffer don't get to it because they don't know where it is.  Much of our work in Partners in Hope is an effort to connect those in need with the help they need.  If you or someone you love is in need, click on any of the coloured links below to check out our resources or contact our office for further information.

We've loaded this website with lots of  helpful information for you as you take steps towards making important changes in your life. Browse around the site and anywhere you see a  coloured link that interests you, click on it and you're likely to find some helpful information or an encouraging story. Read the most up to date news on the blog (see PiH Community News blog on the lower right of this page).   Elsie Quick explains more about Partners in Hope in the following video:

This Weeks Worksheet - Thursday Meeting

Week 5 :  Life In Recovery -- Promises

There are many things that people say, many promises they make.  We hear so many words without any actions to follow them up that we often speak of “empty promises.”  Empty promises bring disillusionment and sadness, pain and frustration.  God has also promised us many things.   God’s promises are great because they are filled with love. They are precious because we can depend on them with absolute certainty.  God keeps His word.  God does make promises He will not keep.

We discuss how deal with promises in a healthy way at our meeting on Thursday evening, February 4, 2010 at 7:30 at Mission Possible, 543 Powell Street, Vancouver, BC
