Home Ways to Help Christmas Celebrations

This Christmas Season

You are invited to any of these
celebrations as we try to
be a "home away from home"
through the holidays.
(Click on the arrow to start the slide show.)

CHRISTMAS SUNDAY CELEBRATION:  The Sunday before Christmas we celebrate with those who've been a part of our "Sunday family" throughout the year.  It's turkey dinner, carols and sharing, a visit from Santa, and just time together.  Many of these folks will now go to their own families for Christmas Day because healing and restoration are happening in their lives.

CHRISTMAS EVE MEAL: For many the point of contact with people in this season is a mealtogether at our house on the holiday.  Our house is packed on ChristmasEve for turkey dinner.  Then we all go to church together to rememberwhose birthday it is that we are celebrating.

CHRISTMAS DAY, COMING HOME FOR THE HOLIDAY: Many have no place to go on Christmas Day and we open our doors andinvite them to “come home.”  It’s a different group that day than onmany other days because so many of our usual folks have alreadyre-established contact with their families and are with them forChristmas.  So, on Christmas Day we offer an afternoon buffet withgames and music and movies and just a “hanging out together” time.

CELEBRATING NEW YEARS’: New Year’s Eve we celebrate and have a lot of fun with people who usedto think they could only have fun if they were high on drugs or loadedwith alcohol.  Again we have a buffet dinner, play games, watch the NewYear come in around the world.  Shortly before the New Year comes herewe gather in the den to sing some songs, reflect on how we’ve grownduring the past year and to offer our lives in the new year to God ingratitude for all He’s done for us.

DONATIONS: We are looking to reach out to hundreds of people whoneed to know the real meaning of Christmas and the love that God hasshown to them in sending Jesus.  As we prepare events and Christmasgifts to share during those events, we wanted to let you know what weare gathering and what we could use.  To make all these things happenwe need your help.

It costs us about $2.50 to puttogether a Christmas meal for someone. Perhaps you'd like to sponsorsome meals, cook a turkey, provide a tray of food for our Christmas Dayopen house.
