Prayer as We Face Covid-19 Pandemnic With God
Monday March 16, 2020

We've all been cheered by the optimism and community spirit expressed in song by folks in Italy as they deal with isolation, loss, and community crisis. Along with health care workers and government officials who are working hard are so many "behind the scenes heroes" and we both salute them and encourage more of us who are less at risk to be involved in whatever ways we can to assist those who must isolate and need help.
Beyond family and community support, though, we need the support and comfort of our Loving God who created us, who knows us, who is watching all of this happen around us, and who cares deeply about us.
We offer the following prayer as a starting place in reaching out and receiving the kindness and care of God for us today.
Loving God, You told us over and over again to not be afraid and yet as we hear so many facts about a virus that seems to spread and overwhelm communities and countries, we find it difficult to not be afraid. Help us to focus on You today and on what is true. You have not lost control and this virus is not stronger than Your power. Your comfort and love can reach the heart of every individual whether in the community or in isolation and so we ask that both ourselves and those who are alone today will be conscious of Your loving presence and supported by Your peace that goes beyond our understanding. You promise that You will not give us more than we can handle, even when it seems like it's more than we can handle. We trust Your knowledge and admit our own limited understanding. You are with us and You will give us everything we need today to face today. We leave tomorrow with you and the unknown uncertain future. Give us your encouragement and Your peace. Amen
Here are some of God's promises we can rely on today and remind ourselves to trust.

Turn us again to yourself, O God. Make your face shine down upon us. Only then will we be saved. (Psalm 80:3 NLT)
