Prayer To The Creator of the Mountains During This Covid-19 Pandemic

Tuesday March 31, 2020
The God who made the mountains is the God who is committed to helping us and who invites us to come to Him in faith today with the problems that seem like mountains in our lives.  Let's follow Jesus' example today when times are tough and pray:

Heavenly Father,  we come to you today because Your love for us is unfailing.  We look at those mountains – so big and strong – and you promise us that Your love is so much stronger.  The more things shake in our world the more we want to lean on You and trust in Your strong love.

Together we want to join our hearts and speak to the mountain that is this virus that is harming so many across the world.  We pray, in Jesus name, that You would have mercy on us, stop the spread of the virus in its tracks, heal the sick, and protect those not now infected.  We pray that in country after country the curve of new infections would indeed, bend and flatten out.

We pray that those who are currently ill would be filled with Your healing power.  Blow a fresh wind of Your Spirit through their lungs and remove all traces of the virus.  Quiet down headaches.  Give strength to those who are feeling desperately tired and weak.  Bring relief to those who are experiencing nausea.  We pray today Lord, that in British Columbia, across Canada, and around the world that the number of those who have recovered would soar in this next 24 hours and beyond.

We particularly pray for those seniors in care facilities like those here in the Vancouver Coastal Region and Fraser Health Region, those in Bobcaygeon in Ontario, and all their care givers, also for the Jewish community in Quebec that is under quarantine.  Bring a bigger wave of healing than the wave of virus spread has been.  Stop the spread in its tracks we pray.  Strengthen the immune systems of all those in these communities and give them your peace we pray.

The finances of many families also feel like a mountain shaking.  Families with mortgages, students with interrupted education plans, seniors watching their retirement savings disappear, small business owners, faithful employees who are being laid off in every sector of society – we ask once again Heavenly Father that You would provide for all of these people.  Help all of us to be wise in the use of  the resources we have.  Show us how to be generous and share with one another in a way that provides for all.  Thank you for helping us see in this time how we can actually put our security in something better than money and possessions – our help is in the Lord our God.  You will never fail us.

We entrust ourselves to Your care again, Loving God.  Help us to be conscious of Your presence today.  Remind us often to pray and seek Your will in all we encounter.  Give us eyes of faith that You exist, You are for us, and You reward those who diligently seek You.  Once again, it’s Your promise that we’re just speaking back to You with faith, that You are true to Your word.  Amen

Without faith it is impossible to please God. Those who come to God must believe that he exists. And they must believe that he rewards those who look to him.  (Hebrews 11:6 NIRV)

I’m reminded that Jesus prayed hard just before He was arrested and all the way along until the moment of His death.  Onlookers thought things were just going from bad to worse but God was actually working in the middle of the mess to do something amazing.  Let’s believe in that God and His power to do the same for us today.
