SPIRITUAL SOLUTIONS THAT FIX EVERYDAY PROBLEMS

We are spiritual beings who have a soul and live in a body.  God created us to be complete only when we are filled with His life.  We can’t think and choose appropriately unless we have the life of God in us.  Without God, we live stressed and obsessed trying to experience a pleasurable life that satisfies and steer clear of all things that would bring harm and destruction to us.  Over and over again, our efforts end in disaster. That’s particularly true during this season of the COVID-19 pandemic as we have been focused so much on protecting our bodies and those we love, on our physical surroundings and all things visible.

The Bible tells us:

You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me
together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so
wonderfully complex!  Your workmanship is marvelous—
how well I know it.
Psalm 139:13-14

Jesus replied, “I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God
without being born of water and the Spirit.  Humans can reproduce
only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life.
So don’t be surprised when I say, ‘You must be born again.’
John 3:5-7

It is important that we keep our vision clear though and so we will pray today that the spiritual core of our being will be filled with God and that will seep out into all other areas of our lives.

Heavenly Father, You have created us to live forever, to be secure on Your love, to live with curiosity and wonder, and to interact with other people and creation is ways that bless and bring joy.  We feel the challenge to all these areas during this time of pandemic and so we are calling out to You today for Your help and protection and to guide us going forward.

We recognize that our life is unmanageable without You and we admit that we need a power greater than ourselves to show us and empower us to live a life worth living both during this time of the pandemic and also beyond this season.  We thank You for Jesus who is the way the truth and the life.  We affirm again today that we are giving our lives and our wills into Your care God and inviting Your will to be the shape of all we think, say, and do.

Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God
transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.
Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and
pleasing and perfect.
Romans 12:2 NLT

We pray for truth to come alive in our thoughts and emotions – in our soul life.  Where we’ve previously felt isolated and detached we trust You today to fill us with a true sense of connectedness.  As we remember that You are watching over us, we let go of fear and allow the security You are giving us to steady us.  Because You God are working for us and with us, involved in every bit of our lives we thank You for the peace and stability of knowing we are not along and how that clears confusion for us and gives us clarity.   We bless our hearts and minds to be filled with hope that chases away despair as surely as warm sunshine clears up fog in the atmosphere.  Thank You God for making us whole in every way.

God always gives you all the grace you need. So you will only have
to suffer for a little while. Then God himself will build you up again.
He will make you strong and steady.
1 Peter 5:10

We’re so glad that we are more than skin and bones, thoughts and feeling but are in fact spiritual beings You have made who have a soul and who live in a body.  We know change starts on the inside and works its way out.  And so God as we live the new life You have brought to our spirit through Jesus Christ, we trust You to bring about these healing changes to our souls and bodies so we dare to dream and hope for life beyond these strange days of the pandemic.

But people who aren’t spiritual can’t receive these truths from God’s
Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can’t understand it, for
only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means.
1 Corinthians 2:14

Help us take time every day to reflect on these truths and allow Your Spirit to write them on our hearts so we keep body, soul, and spirit in the proper perspective.  Fill us again today with Your Holy Spirit so we can live the spiritual solutions You are providing for the life challenges we face.  Amen
