Money Issues

So many challenges with money not only in our own lives but around the world with the economies of so many countries.  You can’t watch a newscast without some mention of tariffs and trade and interest rates etc.  Job action by various groups of workers seem to be a regular part of our life as workers seek to keep their wages current with cost of living increases

Everyone wants more money thinking it will solve more problems but the Bible clearly teaches us that the love of money is the root of all evil we know.

For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows. 1 Timothy 6:10

Now that’s not to say that money doesn’t have its place and I’m right there with everyone else wanting to have what I need – and too often a lot of what I want as well.  However, the foundation of what makes today good is this:

And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19

Loving God, You are more than trustworthy to meet all our needs.  Your supply goes way beyond what we need and when we open our hearts to Your grace, what You pours in is exactly what the situation calls for – even if we didn’t know it before You supplied it. Thank you.  Amen

When it comes to money God wants our focus to be on giving rather than looking to get. 

The Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive. Acts 20:35

So, Loving God, this is such a counter cultural message but we want to embrace it today and live in the relaxed and peaceful mindset that You so long for us to experience.  Help us to look for ways we can give more than we look for ways to get more money.

We choose to acknowledge once again today that our source of all that is good going forward is You.  Amen

Let’s keep money in proper perspective today as we enjoy this day.
