What are some reasons to follow Jesus?
God invites us to trust His word which promises that He will care for us when we face troubles. He tells us not to worry but to seek Him first about our problems, live righteously in the midst of them, and He will give us everything we need. In the midst of trouble we often feel sorry for ourselves and choose to have a pity party, which keeps us focused on our problem instead of standing firm on God’s word. We need to resolve to stand firm on God’s word until our circumstances change. Here are some examples of promises God makes to us that, if we believe and act on them, will change our lives in a positive way:
Instead of complaining that I don't know what to do or where to turn, I can affirm the truth that “The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid? (Psalm 27:1 KJV;).
Instead of believing that "it's all too much” I can affirm with God that: "the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world."(1 John 4:4 NLT) and "the people who know their God will be strong and will resist him." (Daniel 11:32 NLT)
Instead of worrying and fretting about how things will work out, God tells us to “cast all your anxiety on Christ who cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7)
When problems arise, we will have to choose to believe what God says in His word or worry and try to make our own provision. God’s timing is perfect in bringing all the hidden factors together to form a positive solution to the situation. We need to let go and let God. God has proven that He won't hold back anything to help us. Jesus left heaven, came to earth and died on the cross for us. God raised Jesus from the dead to prove that His amazing power is more than sufficient to resolve anything we will face. He tells us over and over again of the love and care He has for us and assures us that nothing can separate us from His love. These are some of the reasons I follow Jesus. How about you?
