A Valid Claim (1)

Wednesday April 24, 2013

As part of my work I've spent many hours in court rooms listening to testimony and the judgments/ decisions that judges pronounce based on the facts they've heard in a particular case.  I often know the details of various situations that are before the courts because I know the individuals who are on trial.  I listen to the lawyers involved.  Sometimes I have respect for what they say and how they bring the facts of the case to light and at other times I’m appalled at how they twist things, not for the sake of truth and justice, but rather for the sake of winning on behalf of the client.

Jesus told them, “These claims are valid even though I make them about myself. For I know where I came from and where I am going, but you don’t know this about me.

You judge me by human standards, but I do not judge anyone.  And if I did, my judgment would be correct in every respect because I am not alone. The Father who sent me is with me.  (John 8:14-16 NLT)

Jesus is trustworthy.  Every word he said was true and was confirmed by God in heaven.  If you could see beneath the surface, at the deepest levels, Jesus was speaking truth.  Jesus did not fabricate   things to make the most of a situation.  Rather, Jesus spoke the truth even when others either didn’t understand or even agree with Him.  Jesus knew truth.  Jesus spoke truth in every respect.  Jesus is TRUTH!

Jesus does not judge the way we see so many humans judge today.  Jesus knows our heart, our motives, our true actions and words.  Jesus deals with things the way they actually are and calls us to live in light and truth as well.  He tells us that true freedom is found when we live in honesty and openness.
