Integrity (2)

I will sing of your love and justice; to you, Lord, I will sing praise.  I will be careful to lead a blameless life—when will you come to me?  I will conduct the affairs of my house with a blameless heart. I will not look with approval on anything that is vile.  I hate what faithless people do; I will have no part in it.  (Psalm 101:1-3 NIV)

What does it mean to be a person of integrity? Here are a few ways that people have tried to describe it.

-          Being true to yourself and others.
-          Knowing and doing what is right.
-          Doing right even when one is alone.
-          Conducting one’s affairs with honesty even when it would be beneficial to be dishonest.

God has established rules and regulations in His word that we can follow.  He tells us that to love Him with all passion and intelligence and energy, and also to love our neighbour as well as we love ourselves is better than all the work we can do for Him or the offerings we can make to Him.  When we follow the path that God has laid out for us we will certainly be people of integrity and others will feel safe in our company.

When we realize that it matters what we do, we can come to God and confess all our wrong doing and He is faithful to forgive us.  He has promised that He will help us stand firm in Christ and will give us the strength and courage to try again.  Scales don’t lie when we are trying to lose weight.  They show us the numbers that reflect what we have been eating.  The Holy Spirit is called the Spirit of Truth.  He will convict us about what is right and wrong in our hearts.  Jesus died on the cross for all our sins not just those of past years, but of past, present and future years.  If we seek His forgiveness we know for certain that we have it.  When we ask for help, God is always there to guide us into the abundant life that Jesus promised.

For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.  Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.  (2 Corinthians 1:20-22 NIV)

Today, with God’s help, let us walk in integrity.
