Living in Loneliness or Living in Love (4)

Finally, brothers and sisters, rejoice! Strive for full restoration, encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you.  (2 Corinthians 13:11 NIV)

Reading the Bible each day and praying for God’s help and guidance should be a priority in our daily regime.  As we put into practice those things we read the feelings of loneliness will subside.  We should also seek a Godly mentor and develop a healthy relationship with that person. Revealing what goes on inside us to a trustworthy person will help us feel connected with that person and the world around us. Joining in church fellowship is another way to build relationships, both with God and with others.  Coming to terms with the loneliness we are experiencing is a process and we should not despise small beginnings.

But you, dear friends, carefully build yourselves up in this most holy faith by praying in the Holy Spirit, staying right at the center of God’s love, keeping your arms open and outstretched, ready for the mercy of our Master, Jesus Christ. This is the unending life, the real life!  (Jude 1:20-21 MSG)

As long as we look to people, performance, possessions, or events to fill our loneliness, we will remain lonely.  We need to welcome the loving presence of God deep within our souls.  We need to get to know God so that we can trust Him.  How can anyone trust someone they do not know?  The Bible tells us that Jesus was rejected by His own people.  He understands those who seem to not “fit in”.  He came to give us new life, life that is only available through belief in Him and His finished work on the cross.  When we accept all that Jesus did for us we become children of God.  God is more loving than even the best earthly father and we can trust Him, for He is faithful in all His ways.

He came to his own people, and even they rejected him. But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.  (John 1:11-13 NLT)

As we experience the love of God, we will know for sure that He cares about His children.  We are truly “accepted in the beloved”.  Never again do we need to feel lonely for we will live in the unfailing love of the God who is always with us.

He (God) made us accepted in the Beloved.  In Him (Jesus) we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.  (Ephesians 1:6b-7 NKJV)

Don’t spend any more time in loneliness!  Cheer up! Determine to live your life in the unfailing love of God who is the same yesterday, today and forever.
