August 27, 2014 Seeking God's Will
Wednesday August 27, 2014

To know the will of God for our lives requires spending time with Him. The apostle Paul violently persecuted God’s church and did his best to destroy it. When he met Jesus on the road to Damascus Paul’s life changed forever. He spent three years searching the scriptures to find the truth, and was taught by the Lord Himself. He took responsibility to learn what needed to change in his life and then shaped his life around what he learned. In his letter to the Galatians he reports:
“I was far ahead of my fellow Jews in my zeal for the traditions of my ancestors. But even before I was born, God chose me and called me by his marvelous grace. Then it pleased him to reveal his Son to me so that I would proclaim the Good News about Jesus to the Gentiles.” (Galatians 1:14-15 NLT)
Paul is an example of how we can take responsibility for our past actions and seek God’s word to know His will for our lives. When we realize what we did in the past is not in line with the word of God, then we alone are responsible to find out what needs changing, and then change it. As we overcome our old ways by submitting to the superior ways of God we will find that life becomes more manageable. We will learn to make better choices and to take responsibility for our actions, rejoicing when we succeed, and not losing heart when we fail. Daily we allow our minds to be renewed to those things that are good and pleasing. As we submit to God we will find that the bondage of the evil one is broken and we can move on to knowing and doing the will of God for our lives.

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:2 NIV)
God has promised that if we seek Him we will find Him. He has a plan and a purpose for each of our lives and we are living at this time and in the place where we reside because He has a plan for us. As we submit to God He will reveal his plan for each of our lives.

From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’ (Acts 17:26-28 NIV)
You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. (Jeremiah 29:13 NIV)
Today, with all our heart, let’s choose to seek God’s will for our life.
