Faithful In Love (3)

Friday March 20, 2015

How does God invite us, His children, to be faithful to others? What keeps us from being faithful in some circumstances? Where are we struggling these days and how can we walk in God's way of faithfulness in our relationships?

Send me your light and your faithful care, let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy mountain, to the place where you dwell.  (Psalm 43:3 NIV)

God has demonstrated that He will always be there for us – on our good days and during our difficult times.  God desires us to live in that same faithfulness as we relate to others – particularly when we feel let down by them.

So then, those who suffer according to God’s will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good.  (1 Peter 4:19 NIV)

God has the power and the desire to fill us with courage and strength so we can be people of our word.  People who make and keep our promises; people who uphold God’s values in every attitude and actions; people who do good to others at all times; people who are known to be steady, solid citizens in their community.

All the ways of the Lord are loving and faithful toward those who keep the demands of his covenant.  (Psalm 25:10 NIV)

Faithfulness may be developed during challenging times and in imperfect moments in relationships.  Instead of treating people as they have treated us, we should consistently treat others as we would want to be treated and as God in His unfailing love has treated us.  We can be confident that God's power is available to help us as we practice His command to love each other as He has loved us.

But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one. (1 Thessalonians 3:3 NIV)

God is a faithful God who is longing to demonstrate His faithfulness to the world through us, His faithful disciples.
