Jesus Sets Me Free

Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.  Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.  (Matthew 11:28-30 NLT)

When we have made a mess of our lives we wonder how God could value us as a person and be willing to give us another chance at life.  By being blind to His ways, either by choice or by not having knowledge of Him, we never asked for, nor even desired, His guidance.  In our rebellion we did not want to consider life on His terms nor learn from Him.  In spite of our persistent arrogance and distain for God the truth is, God knows us and God cares about us. God’s ways and thoughts are higher than ours and He invites us to look at our lives from His perspective. He invites us to reflect on the fact that Jesus came to earth to redeem us, to heal us, and to set us free.

Jesus said, “The Spirit of the LORD is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, and that the time of the LORD’s favor has come.”  (Luke 4:18-19 NLT)

Jesus came into this world and took on human flesh because he wanted to save the people of this world from the penalty of sin which is eternal death.  He came to set us free from the power satan had over us. He died on the cross that we might live.    When we come to God, He will guide and direct us in all our ways so that we might have a good life here on earth and eternal life with Him in heaven.  He stands at the door and knocks waiting for us to let Him in.  The handle is on our side of the door.  Today, let’s open the door and let Him in so that we can fellowship together with Him.
