What Matters To God? (2)
Tuesday May 19, 2015

What matters to God is how we make our choices today? God created a man and woman in His own image, and put them together in a loving relationship with Himself and with each other. This was God’s foundation for solid and satisfying human life. God’s plan was that we would know goodness, experience goodness, and enjoy the fruit of good and perfect gifts. Even after mankind’s rebellion, God planned to restore our relationship with Him through His son Jesus.

God knew each person needed a relationship with Him which is the ultimate experience of life as a human being. Being fulfilled in this way with the love of God, reproduces God’s love in us for those around us.

God knew each person needed a relationship with Him which is the ultimate experience of life as a human being. Being fulfilled in this way with the love of God, reproduces God’s love in us for those around us.
Jesus says, “Love the Lord God with all your passion and prayer and intelligence and energy and Love others as well as you love yourself. There is no other commandment that ranks with these.” (Mark 12:30-31 MSG),

God never intended us to know evil let alone experience it done to us or done by us. God knew we were not powerful enough to stand against the destructive pull of evil. He knew the devastating results of evil at work in relationships and so God desired to protect humans from that. However, in making Adam and Eve in His image He gave them freedom to choose. God set a tree in the middle of the garden where they were to live, the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. He gave Adam and Eve a choice – trust His good care and wise plan or choose for a limited vision of reality based on human knowledge of good and evil.
Unfortunately the woman and the man made the wrong choice and humans entered into a new dimension of knowing and interacting with the power of evil – a power greater than themselves. Operating independently from God’s ultimate power of love, they fell again and again to the powerful forces of evil. We do the same
All the people did whatever seemed right in their own eyes ... There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death. (Judges 17:6 NLT, Proverbs 14:12 NIV)
What choice will we make today – will we choose to love God and trust His way, or choose to do whatever seems right in our own eyes?
