Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” (Psalm 91:1-2 NIV)
Growth in our new life with God in recovery comes when we choose to trust in God regardless of our circumstances. God’s word says that He works all things together for our good. When we are in trouble and call on God, He will answer us and show us great and mighty things we may not currently be aware of. The enemy of our souls is a mere created being with limited power. Our Heavenly Father has ultimate power and will deliver us from whatever comes against us if we look to Him and seek His guidance.
Indeed, we felt we had received the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead. He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us again. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us. (2 Corinthians. 1:9-10 NIV) God has provided tools and instructions to equip us for effective growth today. When we call on His name He promises to rescue and protect. He will answer us and be with us regardless of whatever trouble may cross our path. Are we willing to follow God’s principles and instructions in His manual -- the Bible? The tools given there will equip us for growth and abundant life that Jesus promised will result. As we grow in God’s love and grace His favour will be evident in all we undertake to do. Our faith will be strengthened as we experience the overflow of His goodness.
Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness. (Colossians 2:7 NLT)
