Learning to live with God in recovery is challenging to say the least. We have come from disbelief about the fact that we are fearfully and wonderfully made, to this new life with God, our Higher Power, who tells us in the scriptures that he knew us even before we were formed in our mother’s womb. What difference does this truth ultimately make in our lives?

Your hands made me and formed me; give me understanding to learn your commands. May those who fear you rejoice when they see me, for I have put my hope in your word. I know, Lord, that your laws are righteous, and that in faithfulness you have afflicted me. May your unfailing love be my comfort, according to your promise to your servant. Let your compassion come to me that I may live, for your law is my delight. May the arrogant be put to shame for wronging me without cause; but I will meditate on your precepts. May those who fear you turn to me, those who understand your statutes. May I wholeheartedly follow your decrees, that I may not be put to shame. (Psalm 119:73-80 NIV)

Now, through faith in this all-knowing God, we ourselves are sustained and enabled to come alongside others whom we recognize are struggling. With the same love which brought us comfort, we are able to comfort and love others and introduce them to the God who cares for them, even as He cared for us before we knew Him. Remember, God is pursuing others with His love, just the same as He pursued us.
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. (2 Corinthians 1:3-4 NIV)

Today, let’s wholeheartedly fix our thoughts on God, our Higher Power, who is the source and goal of our faith.
