God's Everlasting Love

The Bible tells us repeatedly of the unfailing love of God for us. However, some of us who have come from the darkness of our addictive lifestyle may not be aware of this great love. We see God as a harsh task master who is waiting to punish us for the wrongs we have done. This could not be further from the truth.
The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.” (Jeremiah 31:3 NIV)
God loved us so much He sent Jesus into the world to die for our sins so that the power of death could be conquered. Those of us who put our trust in this plan of salvation become children of God and will live with Him forever. Jesus came not to judge us for our sins but to save us.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. (John 3:16-17 NIV)
God loves each one of us and planned the events of Jesus’ birth, death, and resurrection so that we might have life forever with Him. As incredible as it may seem Jesus said that He has gone to prepare a place for us and when everything is ready, He will come and get us so that we will always be with Him.
My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. (John 14:2-3 NIV) It is amazing that God’s love for us, despite what we’ve done, is unfailing. How can we not love Him for all He has done for us?
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, Thank you for your never ending love for me. Help me to live in obedience to Your word and to love others as You have loved me. AMEN
