It is wise to make a conscious request to God for discernment so we get to know God’s will and have the power to carry it out in all our affairs.
Whoever gives heed to instruction prospers, and blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord. The wise in heart are called discerning, and gracious words promote instruction. (Proverbs 16:20-21 NIV)

We need to let go of whatever hinders our vision so we can better recognize God’s presence in our lives. Sorrow over a loss we have sustained can hinder our discernment. There is a time to grieve, but prolonged grief over what has been lost to us can hinder us from seeing the future God has planned for us. Fear of change can also hinder and rob us of a building season in our lives. The familiar, "the way things have always been" blinds us to new possibilities that are full of life. In a new season, there will be unfamiliar paths to walk, new thoughts to think, and choices to make. When we make space for what God is saying to us, discernment will come and our decision making will take on new life.

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build. (Ecclesiastes 3:1-3 NIV)
Electing for God’s truth over our own faulty reasoning will give us strength and power and our hearts will be increasingly filled with peace and joy. We will prosper as we rely on the discernment that comes from seeking God in all our ways.
Wealth and honor come from you alone, for you rule over everything. Power and might are in your hand, and at your discretion people are made great and given strength. “O our God, we thank you and praise your glorious name!” (1 Chronicles 29:12-13 NLT)
Prayer: Heavenly Father, Thank You for bringing us to the knowledge of all truth. We praise Your name for You are perfect in all of Your ways to us. AMEN
