Sexual Sin

I made a covenant with my eyes not to look lustfully at a young woman. (Job 31:1 NIV)
Most people have a sense that looking at pornographic images online and in magazines is wrong. God would also include the explicit sexual content we expose ourselves to by watching some television programs and movies. Some Internet sites also have explicit sexual content and would come under the heading of evil promotion and sexual immorality. Rather than just the critics’ ratings of these things, we need to consider God’s perspective. When it comes to murder, everyone recognizes that it is wrong and something to be avoided and punished. Jesus puts sexual sin in the same category as murder.
For from the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, all sexual immorality, theft, lying, and slander. These are what defile you. (Matthew 15:19-20 NLT)
Jesus says that indulging in sex outside of marriage spoils and pollutes us, ruins and degrades us. We were never made for sexual promiscuity for it does not build a life of beauty and holiness on the inside.
God’s will is for you to be holy, so stay away from all sexual sin. Then each of you will control his own body and live in holiness and honor— not in lustful passion like the pagans who do not know God and his ways…. God has called us to live holy lives, not impure lives. Therefore, anyone who refuses to live by these rules is not disobeying human teaching but is rejecting God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you. (1 Thessalonians 4:3-5, 7-8 NLT)
People are made in the image of God and He has put the desire for them to know Him in their hearts. He has also put eternity into the heart of man. However, people reject God because they do not want to follow His principles for living life well. They trade the wonder of their sexual being into something that is godless and loveless and crude. How much better life would be if each person submitted to God’s ways and treasured their sexuality keeping themselves pure for consummation in a marriage relationship?
The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. (Romans 1:18-20 NIV)
How would your life change if you made sexual purity a priority? God is in the redeeming business and will redeem and purify those who confess and turn away from their sin.
